Introduction

Seafood traceability has become very important of several reasons. An international marketplace, food safety and the need for sustainability are all important factors that have lead to an increased importance of traceability.

Several standards and reports have been developed the recent years that show this trend:

Standards:

  • CWA14659. Traceability of fishery products. Specification of the information to be recorded in farmed fish distribution chains, CEN - (Pronorm AS), 2003.
  • CWA14660. Traceability of fishery products. Specification of the information to be recorded in captured fish distribution, Pronorm AS, 2003.
