27.01.2012 Testing of the ICT solution SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture in cooperation with FMRIC is setting up the ICT solution (WP2) based on the National traceability project eSporing. Currently, the data is being uploaded to this system and traceability tests will be conducted next month.

23.01.2012 Visiting researcher from Japan at SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture Yoko Kani is visiting SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture for 10 months and will be working on WP3 - Traceability Control Mechanisms. She will also be involved in other activities at SFH's Process Technology department.

10.01.2012 Working meeting at Vikomar SINTEF Fisheries and Aquaculture and Nofima visited Vikomar to conduct interviews for the cost-benefit analysis activity in WP4 and the ICT solution in WP2.


7.10.2011 Steering committee meetings in Trondheim The steering committee had a meeting in Tondheim at SINTEF SeaLab to discuss further activities. Topics covered where: status and further work in WP2. Possible cooperation with new industrial partner. Decisions on further activities in WP4.

3.10.11 Discussions with Vikomar During week 39 there have been discussions with Vikomar about possible participation in testing of ICT solution. Vikomar.JPG


25.08.2011 Katano-san from Maruha visits SINTEF in Trondheim Mr Katano from Maruha visited SINTEF Fisheries and aquaculture 25th of August. Discussions regarding the Norwegian fishery management were made. There was also time for a nice trip on the Trondheim fjord in the afternoon.

5.06.11 New Norwegian project on electronic traceability The Norwegian Herring Assosiation and SINTEF Fisheries and aquaculture has initiated a Norwegian project on co-work between the existing eSporing, Catch Certificate and the TraceCore XML. The project is called "SAM XT" and are managed by NSS and funded by Innovation Norway. The SAM XT project will influence highly on the ICT solution developed in the MainSafeTraceJapan.


25.05.2011 Successful meetings with Maruha Nichiro in Tokyo FMRIC and SINTEF fisheries and aquaculture presented the planed software system to Maruha Nichiro at their Tokyo headquarters 24th of May. Maruha supported the plans and are ready to take part of a pilot test during June 2011.

18.05.11 WP2 meetings in Tokyo Japan

There will be several WP2 meetings in Tokyo during week 11. The meetings is taking place at the Norwegian embassy in Tokyo and at Maruha-nichiro's new office in Toyosu.


14.03.11 Project meetings in Tokyo week 11 postponed All project meetings in Tokyo during week 11 are postponed due to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.


3.03.11 WP2 and WP3 meetings in Tokyo Japan

There will be several WP2 and WP3 meetings in Tokyo during week 11. The meetings is taking place at the same time as the Norwegian Prime Minister and the Minister of Fisheries visits Japan.


11.02.11 Successful WP3 half-term meeting in Bergen

The WP3 meeting in Bergen 10.02.11 were successful. Presentations on developed methods and results from analysis gave interesting and productive discussions between industry partners and scientific partners.


11.02.11 WP2 work-meeting in Bergen

Presentations and discussions of alternative ICT solutions for information exchange in the pilot chain was made during a 3 hour meeting in Bergen 10.02.11.

Decisions were made to prioritize further development of the Open Source Tracker (OST). More details of this work will be presented soon.


8.02.11 WP3 and WP2 meeting in Bergen

Results from WP3 will be presented and discussed in Bergen the 10th of February. Industry participants will be present to evaluate and give feedback on the work.





Food safety and food chain traceability within the mackerel food chain between Norway and Japan

This project aims to develop, test and measure the effect of a tailor made traceability system with functionality for recording and sharing food safety related information in the mackerel supply chain between Norway and Japan.

Background

During the last 5 years the Norwegian Pelagic sector (herring and mackerel) has carried out strategic R&D projects aiming to strengthen their competitiveness, by increasing quality on raw materials and traceability in the Norwegian part of the supply chain. The companies and organizations in this consortium now want to extend this work, and develop new electronic systems for full chain traceability, also containing functionality for sharing of food safety information and validation of selected data.
